Jake Czeschin and Lauren Davis Earn Player Of The Week Honors

Jake Czeschin and Lauren Davis earned player of the week honors today from the MIAA.

Czeschin, Truman's football quarterback, earned MIAA co-offensive player of the week honors, his second straight week winning the award. He was also a repeat by being named by Don Hansen's Football Gazette as one of NCAA Division II Offensive Players of the Week. Czeschin was also honorable mention for the national offensive player of the week award handed out by d2football.com.

Davis earned women's soccer goalkeeper of the week honors from the conference after tying Truman's school record for shutouts in a season. It is the fifth time this season she has won the award.

Wilson®/MIAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week: Jake Czeschin, Quarterback

Czeschin, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound senior from Fulton, Mo., tied the MIAA single-game record with six touchdown passes as Truman posted its first win of the season, 47-33 at Missouri-Rolla Saturday (Oct. 30).

Czeschin was 37-of-52 for 441 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions against the Miners. It is the third time in MIAA history a player has logged six touchdown passes.

He was 18-of-22 for 232 yards in the second half with three scores as Truman pulled away.

Czeschin, who has 920 passing yards in the last two games, graduated from Fulton High School.

MIAA Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week: Lauren Davis

Davis, a 5-foot-8 sophomore from Springfield, Mo., raised her shutout total to 14 this season with three bagels last week for the No. 3 Bulldogs last week.

She had two saves in a 3-0 home win over Central Missouri State last Wednesday (Oct. 27), and one stop in a 1-0 win at Washburn on Friday (Oct. 29).

Davis made seven saves (the second-most she's needed to make this season) in a 2-0 win at Emporia State on Sunday (Oct. 31).

Davis, who has not allowed a goal over her last 486:49 in goal, is a graduate of Kickapoo High School.
