Two Bulldog Men's Basketball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors
Two players from the Truman men's basketball team were named to the academic all-district team team, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the seventh straight season that at least one member of the Bulldog basketball program has been named to one of the academic all-district teams.
Senior Matt Beran (Victor, Iowa/HLV-Victor) was named first-team academic all-district. It is his second time being honored, as he earned second-team accolades last season. Beran has a 3.84 GPA while working towards his accounting degree at Truman.
On the court, Beran has put together one of the top four-year careers in Truman history. He is on pace to move into the top 20 career scoring list at Truman and be among the top 10 rebounding leaders. Only nine other players in school history have recorded over 800 points and 600 rebounds in a career. This season, he is averaging 11.6 points a game and has team-highs with 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists a contest. Before Wednesday's night game, he was sixth in the MIAA in field goal percentage and tenth in rebounding.
Beran was named honorable mention all-MIAA last season. He has twice been named to the MIAA commissioner's academic honor roll and was named to the academic all-MIAA team last year.
Senior Aaron Mueller (St. Louis/Lutheran North) was named to the academic all-district team for the first time, being included as a second-team member. Mueller has a 3.93 GPA at Truman as an exercise science major.
Mueller ranks among the top 10 all-time at the school in three-point shooting. He has connected on 106 three-pointers during his Bulldog career, which is eighth in the record book. He has missed just one game during his time at Truman and is one of 20 Bulldogs to appear in at least 100 games. This season, he is averaging 3.6 points a game and is second on the team with 24 three-pointers.
Mueller has been named to the MIAA commissioner's academic honor roll two times during his Truman career.
