Strong Second-Half Gives Truman a 80-66 Victory In The Bob Carlson Alumni Game
The 2003-04 Truman men's basketball team came away with a 80-66 victory on Saturday night over Bulldog alumni in the annual Bob Carlson Alumni Game.
The Bulldogs came out strong in the second-half, scoring 27 points in the first 10 1/2 minutes to pull away from the former Truman players. The two teams were tied at 28 in the first-half when the current Bulldogs scored the final eight points of the half to take a 36-28 lead into the break. They continued their momentum in the second-half, eventually building a 22-point lead at 73-51, before a late alumni run cut the final deficit to just 14.
The two Bulldog seniors led the way as Aaron Mueller had a team-high 14 points, including four three-pointers, and Matt Beran added 13 points. Freshman Austin Kirby displayed some good shooting and finished with 13 points.
The alumni were led by Mike Peterson who had a game-high 19 points. Jason Reinberg and Jason Ramthun were both in double-figure scoring as well.
Truman will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. next Thursday night for an exhibition match against former MIAA rival, Southeast Missouri.
