Emporia State-94, Truman-80

The #9 Lady Hornet basketball team defeated Truman, 94-80, on Saturday
afternoon in White Auditorium. After the Bulldogs closed to within three
on the last of Sarah Sommer's game high 28 points with 4:27 remaining,
Janel McNeal and Miklannet Tennal combined for a 9-0 run that put the
Lady Hornets up 87-75 with 2:34 left. Tennal scored 12 of her team high
22 points in the final four minutes.

As a team the Lady Hornets nailed a season high 13 treys. Nicole Patry
hit a career high 5 three-pointers as she scored 17 points in the
victory.  Tennal was 4 of 7 shooting from behind the arc and Andi
McAlexander added three triples.

Jamie Huffman added 19 points to go with Sommer's 28 points for TSU.

Men's Basketball Recap
Emporia State-85, Truman-80

The Emporia State men's basketball team defeated Truman, 85-50, in
White Auditorium on Saturday afternoon. ESU outscored TSU 9-3 in the
final 57 seconds to seal the victory.

Matt Beran gave TSU a 77-76 lead with 1:48 remaining on the last of his team high 16 points.  Greg Patton gave ESU the lead for good on a three pointer with 57 seconds left. Demond Perris hit a lay-up with 40 seconds left after blocking a lay-up attempt by TSU's Derek Lindsey to give ESU a four point lead.  Tony Travis missed a pair of free throws with :26 left and Grant Agbo
converted a traditional three point play with :18 remaining to pull TSU within a point.  Travis then stepped to the line and knocked down a pair of free throws with :16 remaining and Patton added the final points on two free throws with :07 left.  

ESU had four players in double figures led by Travis with 24 points.
Perris added 19 points, seven boards and three blocks.  Ed Desir had
three blocks in ten minutes for ESU.

The Bulldogs had four players in addition to Beran in double figures.
Agbo had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.
