Southwest Baptist-69, Truman-55

Leading from the opening basket all the way through until the end, the Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats took control early in the game and never looked back in a 69-55 win over Truman State. SBU hit 51% of their shots from the floor.

Gwyn Smith had an excellent game as she recorded her fourth straight double-double and her tenth overall on the year with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the team. Amber Wheeler added 13 while Jennifer Clymore had 11. TSU's Sarah Sommer led all scorers with 19 points.

In the first five minutes, SBU jumped out to a 15-6 lead. After TSU cut the lead to one, 7-6, at the 16:39 mark, the Lady Bearcats reeled off a 14-0 run in eight minutes to take charge of the game with a 15-point lead, 21-6, with 8:51 to go in the half. TSU did get the lead back down to nine points, 21-12, but SBU ended the half on another stellar run, 10-4, to take a halftime lead of 31-16.

The second half kept steady as SBU kept their lead in double digits. In the first two minutes, TSU brought the lead back to 11 points, 31-20. The Lady Bearcats scored the next five points to make it a 16-point game and never looked back.

An Alicia Mercer jumpshot gave SBU their largest lead at 20, 51-31, with 9:31 to go in the game. TSU kept scratching away but could not break SBU's defense as the Lady Bearcats pushed on for the victory.

SBU held TSU to just 31% from the floor and 16% (2-12) from the three-point line. SBU shot 31% from the three-point line but was outrebounded, 39-33.

Truman-60, Southwest Baptist-58

Four shots in the final minute for the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats led to Truman State University winning the game, 60-58, and moving out of the bottom of the MIAA. TSU's Grant Ago hit a layup with 1:08 to go in the game for the winning shot.

After Agbo made the layup, Cedric Ousley missed a three-point attempt to take the lead with 47 seconds left in the game. Agbo grabbed the defensive rebound and TSU took over the ball. It was not until there was 11 seconds left in the game that Arthur Trousdell fouled Agbo to stop the clock.

Agbo missed his free throw and Trousdell grabbed the rebound. Jarrett Brown tried to tie the game with three seconds left but the ball did not fall. Trousdell came down with the rebound but it was stripped out of bounds. SBU kept the ball but there was only 00:00.6 left on the clock. Brown's attempt to win the game on a three-pointer was not close at all as TSU came away with the win.

Trousdell led all scorers with 24 points and 15 rebounds, both a career-high. Brown had 14 points and David Martin 10. Agbo put in 20 points for TSU while Matt Beran had 18.

In the first four minutes, TSU took an 8-2 lead, as the first eight points were split between Beran and Agbo. By the 12:20 mark, SBU had cut the lead to one, 10-9, and then tied the game at 12 with 10:28 to go on a Brown three-pointer. Over the next five minutes, TSU took a 23-16 lead, only to see it evaporate before halftime on a SBU 11-3 run for a SBU lead at halftime, 27-26.

Two ties were exchanged in the first four minutes of the second half until TSU's Beran broke the second tie for a 34-32 lead. That bucket sparked a 13-1 run for a 12-point lead, 47-35, in just four minutes. SBU answered with a 20-5 run in six minute time span and a three-point lead, 55-52. That lead didn't last but a minute and a half as TSU tied the game again at 56. Agbo broke the lead with 1:57 to with a layup and just 12 seconds later Trousdell tied the game at 58. Agbo then went on to hit the winning bucket just 37 seconds later.

SBU shot 35% from the floor and only 23% from three-point range. TSU shot 51% from the floor and a dismal 16% from three-point range. TSU also outrebound SBU, 38-33. SBU had less turnovers with only 10 to TSU's 17.
