Bulldog Basketball Team Signs Marceline Recruit
Truman State University men's basketball coach Jack Schrader has announced an early signing of a player for the 2000-2001 season.
The Bulldogs have received a letter-of-intent from guard Eric Delaney of Marceline, Mo. The 6-1 and 190-pounder was a first-team all-state selection as a junior at Marceline High School.
Marceline finished with a 25-5 record last season, Delaney's junior year, advancing to the Class 2A quarterfinals where they lost to North Callaway in a game played at Truman's Pershing Arena.
Delaney averaged 20 points, six rebounds and four assists as a junior and was also named first-team all-district and first-team all-conference. His senior season at Marceline is upcoming.
Truman is preparing to open the 1999-2000 campaign after finishing last
year with a 26-7 record and a third-place finish in the nation. The Bulldogs
open the new season on Saturday, Nov. 20 when they take on Quincy University
(Ill.) in a 1:30 p.m. contest at Pershing Arena.
