TRUMAN: The Bulldogs will be looking for their eighth consecutive win in a home opener on Tuesday when Lincoln University comes to Pershing Arena. Truman has not dropped a home opener since 1992-93, when Lincoln escaped with a 79-78 win.

The Bulldogs are 34-9 overall at home over the last three seasons, including a 17-1 ledger in non-conference home games.

The Bulldogs had gone back-to-back years with season-opening wins, but that changed on Friday at Southeast Missouri State, when the 'Dogs dropped a 70-59 decision to the Division I Indians.

Tuesday night will give many Truman fans a chance to see this year's squad, which features two returning starters in senior co-captains Brian Brown (Centralia, Mo.) and Mike Peterson (Mason City, Iowa). The Bulldogs' roster includes six newcomers, including transfers Scott Coykendall (Elmwood, Ill./Spoon River JC), a junior forward, and Adam Glosier (St. Charles, Mo./U.S. Military Academy), a sophomore center.

TRUMAN vs. SOUTHEAST MISSOURI: Brian Brown scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs suffered a season-opening 70-59 loss on Friday to Southeast Missouri State University.

Brown's final tally led all scorers and rebounders, while the 'Dogs had two others score in double-digits. Junior Nathan Owen (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Southeast Missouri State) put in 10 points against his old team, and Coykendall chipped in 10 points to go with seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs' experienced some shooting woes on Friday, connecting on just 33.3 percent of their shots, including 30 percent in the first half. Truman also had problems at the free throw line and beyond the arc, shooting 21.1 percent for the game from three-point range and 45 percent from the foul line.

LINCOLN: Lincoln opens its season on Tuesday after posting a 1-1 mark in exhibition play. The Blue Tigers were 106-100 winners over World Class Sports in an exhibition game on Nov. 4 and lost 98-63 versus Missouri on Nov. 14.

Lincoln returns four starters from last year's 2-24 team, including 6-7 sophomore forward Jason Friday, the team's leading returning scorer. Friday averaged 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds a year ago.

Senior 6-8 forward Troy Moore was the Blue Tigers' scoring leader in the exhibition season, averaging 16 points per game, including 17 in Lincoln's loss to MU. Also in the game with Missouri, junior forward David Atkinson finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

Junior Kenny Dye, a 6-2 guard, averaged 11 points per game, bolstered by a 17-point performance versus World Class Sports, a game that saw four other Blue Tigers reach double figures in the scoring column. Moore finished with 15 and junior guard Teran Tease added 14 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Sophomore 6-8 forward Terrell Davis also finished with a double-double in that game, charting 11 points and 11 boards. Friday added 12 points in that exhibition win.

Lincoln was a member of the MIAA until the end of 1999 season.

SERIES RECORD: Truman leads 37-31 ... The Bulldogs have won six in a row over Lincoln, including an 86-78 win at Jefferson City in the Blue Tigers' final game as a member of the MIAA ... Lincoln's last win in the series came in 1996, when they defeated the 'Dogs 75-67 on Jan. 24, 1996.

COACHES RECORDS: Bulldog head coach Jack Schrader enters his sixth season at Truman and has a record of 73-68.

Lincoln head coach Bill Pope begins his third year at the helm of the Blue Tigers. He is 12-66 for his career, with each year spent at Lincoln.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs will continue the homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 27, when they host Hannibal-LaGrange in a 7 p.m. matchup. That game will close out the month of November for the Bulldogs, who will then continue on the road at Drury on Dec. 2.
