Truman: Truman (0-2) comes in seeking its first win of the year after falling 78-69 to Lincoln in Tuesday's home opener. It was just the second loss in the last 19 non-conference home games for the 'Dogs. Four of the Bulldogs' next six games are at home, including a Dec. 5 matchup with Westminster, of Fulton, Mo. Truman's only road tilts during the span will come on Dec. 2 at Drury and Dec. 15 at Quincy (Ill.).
Senior forward Brian Brown (Centralia, Mo.) has come out of the gates strong to begin the season. He is averaging 23 points and 9.5 rebounds over the first two games, while shooting a scorching 56.7 percent from the field. Against Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 17, Brown hauled in a career-best 12 rebounds.
Truman vs. Lincoln: Senior forward Brian Brown matched his career-high by scoring 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field in Tuesday's home-opening 78-69 loss to Lincoln University last Tuesday. Brown also tallied seven rebounds on the night and senior guard Mike Peterson (Mason City, Iowa) also reached double figures with 11 points. Freshman forward Matt Beran (Victor, Iowa/HLV-Victor) led the team with five assists.
The Bulldogs led by six, 30-24, with 3:47 to play in the first half, but the Blue Tigers ended the period on a 17-1 run. Truman closed to within three points with 3:10 remaining in the game and trailed 73-69 with 1:03 left, but could draw no closer
Hannibal-LaGrange: HLG comes in after playing the weekend in the Drury University/Pizza Hut Thanksgiving Classic over the weekend. Entering play on Saturday, the Trojans had suffered an 88-63 loss to Drury in the opening game of the tourney.
Senior guard/forward Josh Buffington led HLG with 21 points in the loss to Drury. Senior guards Brandon Blankenship and Jack Howard, along with junior center Josh Clark each finished with seven points in the game.
Series Record: Truman leads 5-3 ... The Bulldogs won the last meeting between the two, in 1996, by a 72-66 score. Overall, the 'Dogs have taken three of the last four contests with HLG, dating back to 1988. The series began in 1924, but the two teams didn't play from 1945 until 1988. Two of the games between the two have seen the Bulldogs top the 100-point mark. Truman did it in 1988 (111-65) and in 1990 (117-73), two of the Truman's top 12 highest scoring games in history.
Coaches Records: Bulldog head coach Jack Schrader enters his sixth season at Truman and has a record of 73-69.
Injury Report: Truman was forced to play the Lincoln game without the services of 6-7 sophomore center Adam Glosier (St. Charles, Mo./U.S. Military Academy), who injured a knee in practice last week.
Up Next: The Bulldogs will take to the road for a Saturday meeting with Drury on Dec. 2, before returning home to battle Westminster (Mo.) on Dec. 5.
