TRUMAN: The Bulldogs will be looking to get back on track after seeing their three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday by virtue of a 61-34 road loss to Missouri-St. Louis. Truman had been out of action for more than a week since gaining an 87-59 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The 'Dogs' other wins this season have come against Hannibal-LaGrange (92-59), Westminster (75-46) and Monmouth (Ill.) (78-72). Truman suffered losses to Southeast Missouri (70-59), Lincoln (78-69) and Drury (76-64) before Saturday's defeat.
The Bulldogs will be looking to win for the fifth time in six home games this season, and will aim for their second straight win in a conference opener.
TRUMAN vs. MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS (DEC. 30): In its first game in more than a week, Truman struggled on the road Saturday, falling 61-34 to Missouri-St. Louis. The Bulldogs shot only 34.1 percent from the field, 12.5 percent from beyond the arc and 26.7 percent from the free throw line. Truman also gave up 21 turnovers and lost the battle of the boards for just the second time in eight games this year.
Junior forward Scott Coykendall (Elmwood, Ill./Spoon River JC) and senior forward Brian Brown (Centralia, Mo.) combined for 24 of the Bulldogs' points as each finished with 12. Coykendall narrowly missed his second double-double of the season, charting a team-best nine rebounds.
ABOUT CENTRAL MISSOURI (5-3): The Mules have dropped two of their last three games, including a 71-68 loss at Quincy (Ill.) on Saturday, entering conference play. The Quincy loss gave CMSU a second-place finish in the Quincy University Classic, as the Mules opened the tourney with a 76-66 win over St. Leo (Fla.). Central's other wins this season came over Monmouth (Ill.) (90-76), Harris-Stowe (114-80), Lincoln (87-84) and Central Washington (77-70, OT). Their two other losses were against Lincoln (96-77) and St. Mary's (Texas) (66-64).
Four Mules average double figures in the scoring column, led by junior forward/center Chris McSwain at 15.9 points to go with a team-high 6.4 rebounds. Senior guard/forward Sean Price averages 14.6 points and is CMSU's top three-point threat. Senior guard Daryl Greene averages 13.6 points and leads the team with 32 assists and 18 steals. Junior forward Ryan Williams rounds out the Mules double-digit scorers with 11.3 points per game.
McSwain ranks eighth in the league in scoring, second in field goal percentage (.616) and 11th in rebounding. Price is first in three-pointers made (2.75 pg), 12th in scoring, second in free throw percentage (.909) and tied for eighth in steals (1.63 pg). Greene is fifth in both assists (4.0 pg) and assist-turnover ratio (1.52), while also ranking seventh in free throw percentage (.793) and steals (2.25 pg) and 17th in scoring. Freshman Phil Gettinger is 15th in rebounding (5.5 rpg), junior guard B.J. Jefferson seventh in assists (3.75 pg). Junior forward Cliff Murkey is tops in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.571).
Murkey finished with a career-high 28 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including 8-of-9 from three-point range in the Mules' loss to Quincy. Greene was named to the all-tournament team at QU after scoring 32 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in CMSU's two games.
COACHES RECORDS: Bulldog head coach Jack Schrader is in his sixth season at Truman and has a record of 77-71 for a winning percentage of .520. He is 4-5 versus Central Missouri.
Don Doucette is in the 19th year of his college coaching career with a record of 254-260. He's in his fifth year at CMSU, where he has posted a record of 70-49. Doucette is 4-4 versus the Bulldogs.

INJURY REPORT: Truman sophomore center Adam Glosier (St. Charles, Mo./U.S. Military Academy) is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Freshman guard Eric Delaney (Marceline, Mo.) missed the UMSL game with an ankle injury.
IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD: With 4-1 start at home this season, the 'Dogs are 38-10 at home dating back to the start of the 1997-98 season, including a 21-2 mark in non-conference home games.
GLASSWORK: The Bulldogs have out-rebounded six of their first eight opponents and rank first in the MIAA this week in defensive rebounds (27.00 pg). The 'Dogs average 38.6 boards per game, compared to 32.8 for their opponents. And on the offensive glass, Truman has surpassed its foes to the tune of 93-59. Three Bulldogs currently average more than six rebounds a game, including Brown's team-leading mark of 7.5 boards. Coykendall pulls in 6.6, while freshman Matt Beran (Victor, Iowa/HLV-Victor) averages 6.1 per game. All three rank in the top 12 for the conference. Truman ranks among the top four in four of the five rebounding categories in the MIAA.
BULLDOGS AMONG CAREER LEADERS: Brown is closing in on the 1,000-point club at Truman as he needs just 23 more to become the 18th member of the elite group. With 977 career points, he now needs 40 points to tie Steve Liford for 17th on the all-time scoring list.
Brown also topped the 400-rebound plateau and broke into the career top 25 this season. With 423 career boards, he is now 24th in career rebounds, while also ranking ninth in Truman history with his 230 career free throws. Brown is also closing in on the top 25 for career assists, needing just four more to catch the 134 posted by Randy Brock in 1991-92.
Senior guard Mike Peterson (Mason City, Iowa) has gone over the 700-point plateau, as he now has 725 career points. He currently ranks sixth in career three-pointers, and needs 33 more triples to catch fifth place, Jason Ramthun. Peterson also has 168 career free throws made (17th all-time) and moved up to 20th in career assists with 162.
BULLDOGS IN THE MIAA: In MIAA team statistics from this week, the Bulldogs ranked third or higher in four categories, including a No. 1 ranking in defensive rebounds (27.00). Truman is second in rebounding margin (+5.9) and third in scoring defense (65.1 ppg allowed) and blocked shots (2.88 pg).
Individually, Brown is seventh in scoring (16.6 ppg), tied for sixth in rebounding (7.5 rpg), seventh in field goal percentage (.538) and tied for eighth in blocked shots (1.00 pg).
Coykendall ranks ninth in rebounding (6.6 rpg), 10th in field goal percentage (.465) and 20th in scoring (13.0 ppg).
Beran is seventh in blocked shots (1.13 pg) and 12th in rebounding (6.1 rpg).
Peterson is fourth in steals (2.63 pg), eighth in three-point field goal percentage (.429) and ninth in three-pointers made (1.88 pg).
