Truman Men's Basketball Announces Two Additions

Truman men's basketball head coach Jack Schrader has announced two additions to the Bulldog squad for the 2000-2001 season.

Matt Beran, of Victor, Iowa, and Aaron Mueller, of St. Louis, have committed to the Truman men's basketball program for next season.

Beran, a 6-6, 215-pound forward, comes to the Bulldogs from H-L-V of Victor High School in Victor, Iowa. A four-sport athlete, Beran averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals per game as a senior. He was all-state in basketball as a junior and a senior and has been selected for the Goalsetter All-Star Game in the state of Iowa. Also an academic all-state performer, Beran was all-state in football, playing tight end and defensive end. He was an all-conference first baseman in baseball and was all-league in the 110 and 400-meter hurdles in track.

"He's another multi-faceted inside player," Schrader said. "He can play inside or out and he has been dominating at his level."

Mueller (pronounced Miller), who has earned a full academic scholarship at Truman, played his high school ball at Lutheran North High School in St. Louis, where he averaged 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals per game. A 6-0, 165-pound guard, Mueller was St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete of the Year and was a St. Louis Sports Foundation Scholar Athlete. Mueller also earned St. Louis North County Athlete of the Year honors. In basketball, he was MVP of the ABC Conference and was academic all-state. He was also all-state in baseball (pitcher/shortstop) and in football, quarterbacking Lutheran North to the 1999 Class 2A state title.

"Aaron is a tough competitor," Schrader commented. "He can play point or off guard and has good leadership qualities."

Beran and Mueller join early signee Eric Delaney, of Marceline, Mo., as new additions to the Bulldog basketball roster.

The Bulldogs are coming off of their third straight winning season, posting a 16-11 overall record in 1999-2000. Truman also made its fourth consecutive appearance in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association postseason tournament after finishing the regular season conference schedule with a 9-9 league record. Schrader has just completed his fifth year at Truman and has compiled a record of 73-67 (.521), including 42-18 (.700) over the last two seasons.
