Reinberg Named a Regional Winner of NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award
Truman State University graduate Jason Reinberg is one of 16 regional winners of the inaugural NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. A male and female Division II Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be selected from the eight male and eight female regional winners.
Reinberg, a four-year letterman for the Bulldog men's basketball team, was named a first-team GTE Academic All-America for the second consecutive year and also claimed the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's Ken B. Jones Student-Athlete of the Year Award. A second-team all-conference choice in 2000, the 6-5 forward averaged 12.7 points and led the MIAA with 8.9 rebounds per game. He also topped the Bulldogs in assists (3.1 apg) and steals (0.9 spg) for the third straight season.
In the classroom, Reinberg graduated this past May with a 4.0 GPA in biology/pre-medicine and was valedictorian of the senior class. He earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and received special recognition from the Truman biology department for being one of just four students to obtain a 4.0 GPA. An aspiring physician, he earned his third MIAA Presidential Scholar award, was an eight-time Truman scholar athlete and a two-time academic All-MIAA qualifier.
He ends his career as the only player in Truman history to currently rank in the school's top five for points (fifth, 1,429), rebounds (third, 915), assists (fifth, 320) and free throws (second, 343). Over his 114-game career, Reinberg tallied 33 double-doubles, including nine in 1999-2000. He also scored in double figures in 80 career games, including 20 times this past season.
Reinberg is a native of Washington, Mo. and a graduate of St. Francis Borgia High School.
