Bulldogs Men's Cross Country Team Barely Edged Out at MIAA Meet
The Truman men's cross country had three runners earn all-conference honors but the Bulldogs were just barely edged out for the MIAA Championship by Missouri Southern. The host school, Missouri Southern, scored 45 points at the meet, two less than the runner-up Bulldogs.
Alan Heincker finished second overall, running the 8k race in a time of 24:40, finishing just over two seconds behind the overall leader, Brian Lyons of Missouri Southern. Matt Helbig was third in the race with a time of 24:54 and Andy Person came in tenth with a mark of 25:29. All three of those runners earned all-conference honors by finishing in the top 10.
Brad Peter just missed earning that honor by finishing 11th with a time of 25:34. The final Bulldog to score was Pat Boyle who was 21st with a time of 25:51.
The men's team will be in action again on Nov. 9 at the South Central Regional Championships in Warrensburg, Mo.
