Men's Cross Country Falls Just Short Of A MIAA Championship

For the second straight season, the Bulldogs fell just short of bringing home a MIAA title, this year falling by one point to Missouri Southern at the MIAA Championship held on Saturday morning at the Kirksville Country Club. Truman had two runners earn all-conference honors and the team scored 48 points at the competition.

Senior Alan Heincker (Dittmer, Mo./Grandview) was the MIAA individual runner-up for the second straight season, finishing the race in a time of 25:32, 19 seconds behind the leader. Junior Andy Person (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) earned his second cross country all-conference honor as he finished fifth with a time of 26:13.

Junior Ryan French (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Marr Marion), running in his first race of the season, just missed all-conference honors with an 11th-place finish, completing the race in 26:58. Senior Brad Peter (Arnold's Park, Iowa/Okoboji) was 13th overall with a time of 27:03 and freshman Jason Simpson (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) rounded out the team's scoring with a 17th place finish in a time of 27:07.

The team will look to earn its fourth straight trip to the national meet on Nov. 8 when the Bulldogs run in the NCAA South Central Regionals in Commerce, Texas.
