Truman Men's Cross Country Wins Their First Scoring Meet Of 2003

Truman men's cross country team brought home both the team and individual titles of the college division last Saturday at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.

In the team standings, the Bulldogs tied for first with Fort Hays State as both teams collected 90 points. Thirty teams were in the college division field, including conference schools Central Missouri, Emporia State and Northwest Missouri.

Bulldog senior Alan Heincker (Dittmer, Mo./Grandview) won the college division race, finishing in 25:04. His time was the fourth-fastest overall, finishing just eight seconds behind Ben Payne, a Division I runner from Air Force. Junior Andy Person (Wildwood, Mo./Ladue) was 14th in the college division after finishing the race in 26:07. Sophomore Eli Klimek (Platte City, Mo./Platte County) was third on the team and 21st overall with a time of 26:31.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was sophomore Aaron Wells (Runnells, Iowa/Southeast Polk) and freshman Jason Simpson (Liberty, Mo./Liberty). Wells was 27th overall with a time of 26:41 and Simpson was 34th with a time 26:53.

Truman will take the next weekend off as it prepares for the Oct. 3 race at the Notre Dame Invitational.
