Men's Cross Country Finishes 17th At Notre Dame Invitational
The Truman men's cross country team competed in the Gold Race at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday afternoon. Against several Division I teams and numerous other ranked teams from the lower divisions, the Bulldogs finished 17th out of a field of 26 programs.
Eli Klimek (Platte City, Mo./Platte County) led the team with an 18th-place finish as he completed the race in a time of 25:14. He has now led the Bulldogs in all three races they have ran this season.
Aaron Wells (Runnells, Iowa/Southeast Polk) had his best team finish of the 2004 campaign as he finished second on the squad. His time of 25:54 placed him 57th overall. Jason Simpson (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) finished 97th with a time of 26:28. Rounding out the top five were Bryant England (Elliott, Iowa/Griswold) and Trey Robinson (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette). England was 138th with a time of 27:18 and Robinson was 146th after crossing the finish line in 27:30.
Truman has one remaining race before the MIAA Championship. The Bulldogs will compete at the Border States Invitational in Edwardsville, Ill. on Oct. 9.
Cross Country Notes: In the latest regional ranking, the men's cross country team is ranked fifth ... the women's cross country team is off this week and will next compete at the Border States Invitational ... the women's team is ranked seventh nationally and first in the region.
