Men's Cross Country Takes 12th at Notre Dame
The Bulldog men's cross country team, the No. 7 team in Division II, finished 12th out of 18 mostly NCAA Division I schools on Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
The 'Dogs scored 287 points in the meet, which was won by the host with 28 points. Truman's 287 points was a mere six points behind 11th-place Western Michigan.
Senior Ben Rosario (St. Louis/SLUH) led the way for Truman as he completed the 8,000-meter course in 25:23. Senior Andy Doering (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) was 42nd with a time of 25:29. Four other Bulldogs placed in the top 100, including sophomore Alan Heincker (Dittmer, Mo./Grandview) who was 51st in 25:36. Senior Brian McQueary (St. Louis/St. Mary's) finished 79th in 26:06, followed by junior Pat Boyle (St. Charles, Mo.) in 92nd (26:18) and junior Mike Nelson (Fenton, Mo./Northwest) who was 100th (26:18).
The Bulldogs, who are ranked second in the South Central Region, will next compete on Oct. 20 at the MIAA Championships in Emporia, Kan.
