Truman Men's Cross Country Squad Takes Second At Kansas

Led by four runners in the top 20, the Truman State University men's cross country team brought home a second-place finish on Saturday from the Bob Timmons Invitational at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. The University of Kansas team finished first with a total of 33. The Bulldogs tallied a score of 61 for second place while Missouri Southern was third with 76.

Truman had the top overall finisher in sophomore Andy Doering (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North), who finished the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26:26.40. Junior Nick Blackburn (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell) was third overall, finishing the race in 26:51.37. Sophomore Matt Helbig (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) took 14th overall with a time of 27:43.45 and junior Aaron Aversman (Carrollton, Mo.) rounded out the 'Dogs top-20 finishers, placing 20th with a time of 28:09.29.

Truman will return to action next Saturday (Sept. 18) at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational at Lincoln, Neb.
