Men's Golf Finish Eighth Overall At the Missouri Southern Invitational
The Truman men's golf team shot two strokes better in the second round of the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational, but could not catch any teams above it as the the Bulldogs finished eighth overall and six among MIAA schools. The tournament was the second MIAA scoring event of the 2003-04 season.
Senior Brett Meeske (Moline, Ill./Moline) led the team with a 75-76=151. He finished tied for 23rd overall at the event. Senior Jake Mann (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth) was 31st at the Invitational with a 80-74=154. Junior Austin George (Wichita, Kan./Andover) was tied for third overall after a first round score of 72, but struggled on day two with an 83. His two round score of 155 placed him tied for 32nd.
Junior Jason Bertram (Manchester, Mo./Parkway South) shot a 80-76=156 and tied for 36th place. Freshman Jesse Helms (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) rounded out the squad with a 82-79=161, tying him for 48th.
On the season, Bertram currently leads the team with a 75.8 stroke average. Mann and Meeske are both averaging 76.5 shots per round. Helms has a 77.8 average after three events and George is averaging 78.0.
The men's golf team has one tournament remaining during its fall season. They will compete at the Drury Invitational on Oct. 13-14.
