Men's Golf Team Advances to Division II Super Regionals

The Truman State University men's golf team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Super Regional round of the postseason tournament, May 6-8 in Union, Ky.

Seventy-nine teams and 44 individuals have been selected to participate in the Super Regionals, which are slated to take place April 29-May 1 or May 6-8.

It marks Truman's first NCAA postseason appearance in men's golf since 1996-97, when the squad advanced to the West Regional.

The Bulldogs are the No. 7 seed in the Central Region, which is paired with the Great Lakes Region for the Super Regional that will be hosted by Northern Kentucky University and played at Lassing Pointe Golf Club in Union, Ky. Seven of the eight Central Region teams picked for the 54-hole tourney hail from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Four other super regionals will be held around the country. The Northeast and East regions are paired in one super regional, while the Atlantic and Southeast are paired in another. The South and South Central comprise another super regional and the northwest and west make up the other remaining tourney.

The winner of each region advances to the finals. In all 18 teams and 12 individuals will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships to be held May 21-24 at Mission Inn Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The Bulldogs are currently competing in the MIAA Tournament at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar, Mo. The conference tourney started today and wraps up on Tuesday (April 30).
