'Dogs Place Seventh at UMR Fall Invitational

The Truman men's golf team was seventh our of 15 teams on Monday and Tuesday at the University of Missouri-Rolla Fall Invitational. Truman was the fourth-highest finishing Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association squad in what was the second of two MIAA-designated fall events.

Quincy University (Ill.) carded an 877 (297-296-284) to win the tourney by two strokes over Central Missouri State (879).

The Bulldogs had a score of 908 (307-305-296) on the par 70, 5,848-yard Oak Meadow Country Club Course in Rolla. Truman was a mere six strokes out of fourth place.

Three Bulldogs notched top-15 finishes, as senior Marc Chenot and freshman Daniel Silva and Austin George each tied for 15th with scores of 225.

Medalist honors went to CMSU's Jason Traeder, who shot a 215.

The 'Dogs will close out the fall 2001 schedule on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 15-16) at the Deerfield Inn-Drury Classic in Springfield, Mo.
