Bulldog Golf Team Finishes Fourth at Quincy Invitational
The Truman State University men's golf team placed fourth out of five teams on Sunday and Monday at the Quincy University (Ill.) Invitational, which was held at the Westview Golf Course in Quincy.
Truman stood in third place and was six strokes out of second after shooting a 314 in Sunday's opening round. However, Monday's round saw Truman post a 324 and slip to fourth overall with a final tally of 638. Central Missouri State won the tournament with a 580 (291-289). Host Quincy was second with a 603 (308-295). The 'Dogs were eight strokes behind third place Culver-Stockton, which finished with a 630 (319-311) on the par-71, 6,450-yard course.
Junior Lou Dersch (Charles City, Iowa) finished ninth among individuals and led the Bulldogs with a score of 154 (75-79), his best tournament score of the fall. Senior Jasen Matyas (Hannibal, Mo.) also had his best fall tourney, finishing with a 158 (75-83) and tying for 14th.
Sophomore T.J. Erhart (Jefferson City, Mo.) and junior John Anderson (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) were 17th and 18th, respectively, with scores of 162 (80-82) and 165 (84-81). Freshman Jake Mann (Monmouth, Ill.) rounded out the Truman competitors with a 171 (89-82), placing 22nd.
The 'Dogs will be in Springfield, Mo. on Monday and Tuesday, playing in the Drury Classic. It will be Truman's final competition of the fall season.
