Men's Golf Places Sixth at Missouri Baptist Invitational
The Truman State University men's golf team finished sixth on Tuesday at the Missouri Baptist College Spring Invitational. The Bulldogs carded a score of 622 (309-313).
Truman was led by senior Justin Brewer (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester), who tallied a 152 (74-78) to place just outside the top five. Juniors Rick Ewing (Warson Woods, Mo./Webster Groves) and Lou Dersch (Charles City, Iowa) both finished with scores of 156. Ewing shot 77-79, while Dersch carded 80-76.
Senior Jasen Matyas (Hannibal, Mo.) had a 158 (78-80) and sophomore T.J. Erhart (Jefferson City, Mo.) rounded out the Bulldog squad with a 178 (88-90).
University of Missouri-St. Louis won the tournament with a 603, while Lindenwood University, also carded a 603 but placed second.
Truman will return to the course, this time in Joplin, Mo., on Monday and Tuesday, April 2-3, for the Missouri Southern Invitational. That tournament is the first Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association designated event of the spring season.
