Men's Golf Concludes Fall Season at Drury
The Truman men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2001-02 schedule on Tuesday with a 15th-place finish at the Drury/Deerfield Inn Classic in Springfield, Mo.
The Bulldogs carded a score of 326 in the event that was shortened by rain to one day and 18 holes. East Central (Okla.) and Arkansas Tech tied at the top of the standings with scores of 309. However, East Central won a playoff to take home the crown.
Sophomore Jake Mann (Monmouth, Ill.) led the Bulldogs and tied for 20th with a 78 (41-37). Freshman Daniel Silva (Littleton, Colo.) finished with an 81 (41-40). Freshman Austin George (Wichita, Kan.) charted an 83 (42-41) and senior Marc Chenot (St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne) and junior T.J. Erhart (Jefferson City, Mo.) finished scores of 84. Chenot shot a 38 on the front nine.
The tournament was played at the par 72, 7,026-yard Hickory Hills course in Springfield.
The Bulldogs will enter the spring portion of their schedule in a fifth-place tie in the MIAA standings. The team placed sixth at its own Bulldog Classic last month and seventh (fourth among MIAA schools) at the Miner Invitational earlier this month. This week's tourney at Drury was not an MIAA sanctioned event.
