No. 25 Men's Soccer Team Finishes Six-Game Homestand With Quincy And Northern Kentucky This Week

Truman (9-4-0): The Bulldogs are now 4-1 at the Truman Soccer Park this year after a 1-0 win over Missouri-Rolla that put them back into the NSCAA Division II ranking at No. 25.

Junior Ricky Vigil (Crestwood, Mo./SLUH) leads the Bulldogs in points (17), goals (7) and game winning goals (3) and is second with three assists. Freshman forward Lars Pottgiesser (Hattingen, Germany/Gymnasium Waldstrasse) has 12 points, four goals and four assists. Junior Adam Johnson (Des Moines, Iowa/Hoover), seeing the most time in goal this year, has a goals against average of 1.16 and two shutouts.

Truman vs. Missouri-Rolla: The 'Dogs would score early on, but the officials ruled a no goal due to a foul by the 'Dogs in the box. It would continue to be a rough match with an additional 47 fouls called. At the end of the half, the score remained 0-0 and the shots remained even at six apiece. In the second half, the 'Dogs would take the lead when freshman Sean Birrell (Perth Scotland/Perth-University of Stirling) shot the ball over the head of goalie Michael White for the only goal of the game. It was Birrell's third goal of the season and freshman Mike Boyle (St. Louis/CBC) recorded his first assist with the shot. Johnson made seven saves in recording his second shutout of the year.

Series Records: Truman leads the series record with Quincy at 6-3-2, after a 1-1 tie last season.

After a 2-1 victory over Northern Kentucky last year, the series record stands at 6-1-1 in the Bulldogs' favor.

Coaches Records: Into his fourth season as head coach of the Bulldogs, Alf Bilbao has a record of 61-23-7 (.709).

Coach Jack Mackenzie has compiled a 427-196-51 record into his 33rd year with the Hawks.

John Toebben has been with the Norse for the last 13 years and has accumulated a 137-12-20 record.

Quincy University (10-3-2): Last week, the Hawks lost to No. 9 Lewis University 2-4 and triumphed over Wisconsin-Parkside, 3-0. Senior Wayne Wiseman and freshman Nick Frederickson lead the team with 17 points apiece and seven goals each. Frederickson has two game winning shots along with freshman Scott Smith. Freshman Brian Forrest has a 0.97 goals against average and six shutouts on the season.

Northern kentucky (6-8-2): Jeff Anderson leads the Norse with 19 points and nine goals. Stephen Hahn has a team high four assists. Nate Madden has seen the most time in the net and has a 1.60 goals against average. They face the 'Dogs coming off a 6-0 victory last weekend over Kentucky Wesleyan.

NCAA Postseason Qualifying: The top two teams in each of the NCAA Division II's eight regions will earn bids to the NCAA postseason tournament.
