Findlay Knocks Off Truman In The NCAA Quarterfinals

Truman's perfect season and a run towards the end NCAA Championship came to an end of Saturday when Findlay (Ohio) defeated the Bulldogs by a 2-1 score.

Findlay got off to a guick start when Luis Cortell scored his 16th goal of the season in the 11th minute of the game.

It looked like Truman might head to the break with a deficit when Sean Birrell took Martin Clayes' corner kick and headed it in to even the score in the 34th minute.

In the second period, Truman took 14 of its 31 shots for the game, but could not find pay-dirt. Findlay's Jacob Schramm came off the bench to tally the game-winner in the 87th minute, leaving the Bulldogs little time to respond.

The Oilers took 10 shots in the game, but had 14 fouls to Truman's six, and were issued five yellow cards.

Truman ended the second-longest NCAA Division II winning-streak at 26 games and completed the season with a 20-1-0 record.

Findlay, 10-5-5, now advances to face the winner of the Cal St. Chico/Midwestern State (Texas) game, being played Saturday evening.
