Brenton Freeman Selected To Represent Truman At NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference
Men's Soccer co-captain Brenton Freeman (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) has been selected from a pool of over 1,000 nominations to be one of approximately 300 student-athletes participating in the eighth annual NCAA Leadership Conference at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
To achieve this honor, Brenton Freeman demonstrated the ability and strong desire to be a leader, as well as the potential to benefit significantly from the experience. A committee comprised of CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinators from member institutions and NCAA student-athletes reviewed the nominations and made the final selections.
At the conference, participants discuss topics relating to collegiate student-athletes such as, demands and expectations, international student-athlete experiences, recruiting visits, party behaviors, trust gaps, and sportsmanship. Participants in this event represent all seasons and divisions of NCAA athletics, over 20 sports will be represented. Following the conference student-athletes will be asked to share their experiences with their home campus, as well as, develop and implement a self-directed project addressing an issue on their campus or in their community.
Freeman played in 20 games and started 19 last season for the Bulldog men's soccer team which recorded the first undefeated regular season in school history.
