Men's Soccer Ties Northwood

Truman Box Score

One streak ended and another continued for the Bulldogs as they tied regional foe Northwood (Mich.) 1-1 in double overtime at Truman Soccer Park.

The Bulldogs move to 2-2-2 on the year, while the Timberwolves go to 4-1-1.

Truman stopped their scoring drought with their first goal in since Sept. 4th when midfielder Martin Clayes scored unassisted in the first half. The tally gave Truman a 1-0 lead and was Clayes' second goal of the season.

The Bulldogs appeared to have the win in hand with 15 minutes left. Then, a shot inside the box richochted off multiple players and evaded Bulldog goalie Nate Gibson inside the right post. Northwood's Nia Dabovic took the shot and was assisted by Anthony Tuzzolino.

Both teams had several opportunities to score in the two overtimes, but neither could break the stalemate.

Rockhurst vs. Benedictine Box Score

In the second half of the doubleheader, Rockhurst University gained their first win of the season in a 2-0 blanking over rival Benedictine University.

Rockhurst stands at 1-3-2, while Bendictine falls to 1-4-1.

Senior midfielder Tom Becks scored both of the goals for the Hawks, notching the first one early in the first half of a free kick and scoring again late in the second off a penalty kick.

Rockhurst goalie Adrian Winnubst earned his first shutout of the season, saving two shots.

All four teams return to the pitch on Sunday as Truman faces Rockhurst in the opener and Northwood plays Benedictine in the second match.
