Twenty-Nine Women and Nine Men Represent Truman on Academic All-MIAA Teams

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced the 2001-02 Academic All-MIAA Teams.

A total of 143 student-athletes, 48 men and 95 women, are being recognized. Eight men represented Truman, while 29 Bulldog women, representing more than 30% of the total, were named to the list.

Senior Beth Luebbering (St. Thomas, Mo.) was the only student-athlete from Truman to earn academic all-MIAA status in three sports, and one of just six among the 143 named to the men's and women's lists. She placed eighth at the MIAA cross-country meet, was fifth in both the 3K and 5K runs indoors and placed fourth in the 5K and sixth in the 3K and 10K races at the MIAA outdoor meet.

To earn the distinction, a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.50 grade-point average in two terms of attendance at the nominating institution, and earned all-MIAA honors in their sport over the past season.

Student-athletes at MIAA schools competing in sports which the conference does not sponsor a championship and who meet the academic requirement, are eligible for the honor as well. Those athletes qualify by earning all-district/region honors in a team sport, or by qualifying for their national championship in an individual event.
