Pumroy Named Assistant AD for Compliance; Eggering Assumes Role as Senior Woman Administrator; Russell Out of Running for Women's Basketball Coaching Job
A little restructuring has taken place in the Truman Athletics Department. Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering announced today that B.J. Pumroy will assume the role of Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, beginning immediately. Pumroy has served the Truman Athletics department for the past eight years as head baseball coach. A search for a new baseball coach will commence immediately.
"B.J.'s familiarity with our athletics department, and desire to fill this position, make him an excellent replacement," said Wollmering.
Pumroy is a 1992 graduate of Truman and received his master's degree in education with a specialization in sports management from Northwestern State University (La.) in 1997.
"I think this was a good move for me personally and professional," Pumroy said. "It was a professional path I intended to take some time in my career and I'm happy it arose at Truman."
Pumroy also served this past season as chairman of the NCAA Division II Central Region Advisory Committee, helping to compile regional and national rankings, managing the Central region tournament and working as a tournament manager at the Division II World Series. He is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attended Marion High School.

In addition, head volleyball coach Becky Eggering will take over as the senior woman administrator for the Truman athletics program. Eggering, who has coached the Bulldogs for the past three seasons, will remain in the coaching ranks while serving as SWA.
"Becky will do an outstanding job as SWA," Wollmering continued. "She will be able to bring the coaches perspective to the table, while also serving as a representative for our female student-athletes."
Eggering is a 1993 graduate of William and Mary (Va.), and received a master's degree from Murray State (Ky.) in 1997. She guided the 1999 Bulldogs to their best conference record ever at 14-2, as they posted an overall mark of 23-9 last year. Eggering is from Old Monroe, Mo., and attended St. Dominic High School in O'Fallon.
"I'm honored to become more involved with the administration," Eggering indicated. "I hope to be a strong advocate for the women's teams at Truman."
Eggering and Pumroy fill vacancies left by Kathy Turpin who resigned her positions as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator in May.

On another note, assistant women's basketball coach Carol Russell has resigned her position and has withdrawn her name as a candidate for the head women's basketball job at Truman. She will join Karin Nicholls as the first assistant coach at Division I Texas Pan American where Nicholls took the head job in May.
Interviews for the Truman head women's basketball coach job are currently under way with a replacement expected to be named later this month.
