Several Bulldogs Rewarded For Their Classroom Work

Three Truman State student-athletes recently received recognition for their work in the classroom.

Softball player Britni Buford was the winner of the Pat McSwegin Research Award from the Missouri Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The award was based on the blind review of an abstract submitted by Buford to the conference.

Buford, an exercise science (pharmacy) major, will be a junior pitcher for the Bulldogs this spring.

Football player Tameem Yehyawi and men's tennis player Steve Jones were named recipients of the R.E. Valentine Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 1960 to honor R.E. Valentine, a former outstanding student-athlete and faculty member at Truman. Recipients must be varsity letterwinners with at least one season of athletic competition remaining and have earned the highest grade point average among all varsity letterman during the preceding school year.

Yehyawi is a junior inside linebacker for Truman and is a biology major. Jones, a sophomore, is an accounting major. Both Bulldog athletes have perfect 4.0 GPAs at Truman.
