Truman and KRES Renew Agreement To Broadcast Bulldog Sporting Events
Truman State University director of athletics Jerry Wollmering announced today that the athletics department has signed an agreement with Superstation KRES 104.7 FM to have the radio station to continue broadcasting Bulldog sporting events.
"We are excited to continue our long-term relationship with KRES," said Wollmering. "Their commitment to Truman Athletics was greatly reinforced with this new contract. We are delighted that Brad Boyer, Ken Kujawa, and Hank Janssen will continue to bring the excitement of Bulldog athletics to our alumni, parents and fans nationwide."
"We are very happy about our partnership continuing with Truman," said Boyer, KRES's sports director. "This arrangement is good for us and gets Bulldogs athletic action out to a greater audience in the area. We are looking at bigger and better ways to promote the teams this year and look forward to some exciting action in 2003-04."
The new agreement gives KRES the exclusive rights for broadcasting services of all football and men's and women's basketball games, including postseason contests. Each game will also be broadcast over the internet at regionalradio.com.
Kujawa, Boyer and Janssen will continue to call the majority of the Bulldog action. Kujawa handles the play-by-play for football, while commentary is provided by Boyer and Janssen. For basketball, Boyer is the play-by-play man with Janssen adding color and some play-by-play action. Each broadcast will have a 15-minute pre-game show and post-game wrapup, including an interview with the head coach.
KRES has earned several awards from the Missouri Broadcasters Association for their coverage of Truman athletics. The station has earned two awards for Truman football broadcasts and three honors for Bulldog basketball broadcast, including a first-place finish for Boyer for his play-by-play of a triple overtime Elite Eight game in 1999.
The first broadcast under the new contract will be the football season opener against Winona State (Minn.). That game will be on Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Stokes Stadium. The 2003-04 seasons will be the ninth year that KRES has broadcast Truman sporting events.
