Truman Ranked First Among Division II Schools In NCSA Power Rankings

In the 2004 National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings, Truman was ranked first among NCAA Division II schools and 23rd among all colleges in the United States. Truman improved 13 spots from the 2003 ranking when it was ranked 36th nationally in all divisions.

The NCSA is a scouting service that is designed to help student-athletes identify the colleges they are best suited for based on athletic and academic factors. This is the second year that the company has compiled power rankings by taking the sum of the school's rank in the most recent Directors' Cup standings, US News & World Report Academic Rankings and student-athletes graduation ranks.

Two other Missouri schools were listed among the top 100 schools in the nation. Washington University was ranked 60th and Drury came in right behind them in 61st.

In Division II, the other schools behind Truman in the top 10 were: Bentley (Mass.), Drury, California-Davis, Assumption (Mass.), Rollins (Fla.), Western Washington, Stonehill (Mass.), Regis (Mass.) and Merrimack (Mass.).

This past year, the Truman athletic department had its highest-finish in the Directors' Cup, finishing third in the nation. Last fall, in the USA Today/NCAA Academic Achievement Award, Truman was ranked eighth in NCAA Division II for having a 78% graduation rate for their 1996 freshman class. Only other school in NCAA Division II was ranked in the top 10 in both of these rankings.
