Three Bulldogs Earn Conference Player of the Week Honors

Softball pitcher Britni Buford was named the Wilson/MIAA Pitcher of the Week and track athletes Alan Heincker and Christina Winkler were honored as the MIAA track athletes of the week.

Buford was 2-0 last week and did not allow a run in two games and over 12 innings of work. Against Northwest Missouri, she allowed five hits in five innings as Truman won by a 13-0 score. She struck out five in that game while walking just one. In her other outing against Southwest Baptist, she tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out three and walking one.

Alan Heincker was the male track athlete of the week after placing fourth in the Invitational 10,000-meters at the Drake Relays last weekend. He completed the race in 30:32.38 which is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

Christina Winkler was the female track athlete of the week after placing 13th overall and second among Division II runners in the combined college/university 400-meter hurdles at the Drake Relays. She completed the race in 1:01.44, a season-best which improved a NCAA provisional mark that she had already set in the event. Winkler also was a member of the 4x400 relay team which placed third in the college division with a provisional mark of 3:45.28.
