Truman Softball Is Eliminated From the NCAA North Cenrtral Regional With A 4-0 Setback Against Emporia State

The Bulldog softball team could not get any offense going against first-team all-MIAA and all-region pitcher Melissa Stevens and they were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 loss to Emporia State. (Kan.).
Stevens dominated the game, allowing just three hits and one hit batter. She struck out five and never allowed a Bulldog runner to reach second base.
Truman didn't help itself in the field with three errors. Two of the errors came in the second inning when Emporia State pushed across two unearned run to take the lead for good. The Hornets added another run in the fifth thanks to the third Bulldog error and then capped the scoring off with an RBI single in the seven.
The Bulldogs' Breanna Wonderly allowed seven hits and one earned run in seven innings on the mound. She struck out five batters and walked one in the game. Elizabeth Economon, Courtney Strubel and Holly Kessler were the only Truman players to scratch out a hit in the game
Emporia State was led at the plate by leadoff hitter Morgan Viola who was two-for-three with one run and one double. Lindsey Abbott and Bree Beattie each had two hits as well.
Truman Softball Notes: The Bulldogs end the season with a 44-12 overall record. The 44 wins is the second-most in school history and marks just the fourth time the Bulldogs have won 40 or more games in a season ... Truman set school offenses records this season with 460 hits, 47 home runs, 249 RBIs, 677 total bases, a .311 batting average and a .458 slugging percentage ... earlier in the season, the Bulldogs also set a school record with 18 straight victories ... Emporia State, who is now 43-17 on the season, will next face the winner of the Concordia-St. Paul/Nebraska-Omaha game at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
