Truman women's swimmer Liz Hug has been named a finalist for the Ken B. Jones Award which is awarded to the male and female student-athlete of the year in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Three finalists were chosen from both the male and female nominees and the winners will be announced on June 5 in Kansas City, Mo. at the MIAA Awards Banquet. An 11-member panel of athletics directors, sports information directors and faculty athletics representatives - including a representative from each school - selects the winner.

Hug is a senior nursing major with a 3.86 cumulative GPA. She helped Truman win its third straight NCAA championship this past winter and is a 12-time national champion in the pool. She was the winner of an NCAA postgraduate scholarship and is one of 10 Division II finalist for the NACDA postgraduate scholarship. She is a four-time College Swimming Coaches Association academic all-American and is eligible for her fourth straight Academic all-MIAA honor.
