Women's Swim Opens 2002-03 Campaign with Win over Division I Nebraska

The Truman defending national champion women's swim team opened the 2002-03 season today with a win over the Nebraska women, 152-101. The Bulldogs won 11 of 14 events at the meet and already automatically qualified five individuals for the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Senior Kelli Dudley (Topeka, Kan./West) met the automatic qualifying time in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:06.22 and in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.34.

Senior Sara Hatcher (Kingdom City, Mo./North Callaway) automatically qualified in the 50-yard free style in a time of 23.96.

Freshman Meredith Rocha (Whitehouse, Texas/Grace Community) was an automatic qualifier in her first collegiate meet, making the cut in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.84.

Senior Liz Hug (Maryville, Ill./Collinsville) qualified for the national meet in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:54.01.

Sophomore Diana Betsworth (East Moline, Ill./United Township) met the qualifying standard in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 10:21.11. She is the defending national champion in the event as well.
