The Truman men's and women's swim teams were victorious this past weekend at the Bulldog Invitational. More automatic qualifiers were logged for the girls team and the men had outstanding showings across the board.

The Bulldog women automatically qualified three more swimmers for the NCAA Division II Championships. Sophomore Whitney Jensen (Grinnell, Iowa) made an A cut in the 50-yard freestyle (24.28) on Friday, and the next day, freshman Lindsay McReynolds (Bloomington, Ill./University) made her first qualifying time ever in the 1,650 free (17.34:22) and freshman Brittany Anderson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) will be making her first NCAA trip after qualifying in the 200-yard breaststroke (2.24:55). Anderson also claimed the pool record in the 200 breast, which was previously set in 2001 by Leslie Hoh from the University of Missouri.

Junior Meredith Rocha (Whitehouse, Texas/Grace) had another great showing, in the 200-yard butterfly, recapturing an automatic qualifying time (2.08:70). Junior Michaela Osborn (Tipton, Iowa) made an A-cut in the 100 breast (1.05:98).

Other commendable performances were recorded as B-cuts were made by senior Katie May (Westmont, Ill./Hinsdale Central) in the 500 free and 200 back, freshman Lija Kaleps-Clark (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) in the 200 and 400 individual medleys and the 200 back, and sophomore Jackie Lopez (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in the 500 free.

The Bulldog men also had some stand out performances over the weekend. Josh Otis (Johnston, Iowa/Dowling) claimed first-place finishes in both the 200 and 500 freestyles. He was also part of the first-place 200- and 800-yard free relays. Freshman Robert Fletcher (Broken Arrow, Okla./Broken Arrow) took first place in the 100 and 200 backstokes.

Don't miss the Bulldog women in action this weekend as they play host to Division I Nebraska (Lincoln) at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Pershing Natatorium. The Bulldog men are on the road, facing the University of Missouri-Rolla on Friday.
