Bulldog Swimmers Fall In Their Final Dual Of The 2003-04 Season

Both Truman swim teams fell on Saturday afternoon to their in-state rivals, Drury, in a dual meet in Springfield, Mo. The women's final score was 121-102 while the men's final was 133-82.

The women's dual was pretty much even except that the Panthers scored 18 points in the two diving events, in which the Bulldogs do not have any competitors. Truman won five of the 11 non-diving events, including both relay races. The individual winners on the women's side were Diana Betsworth in the 200-yard freestyle, Sarah Dance in the 100-yard freestyle and Michaela Osborn in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The men's team struggled against the defending national champions, failing to record the fastest-time in any event during the day. Andy Harken had some good finishes, having the second-fastest time in the 200-yard breaststroke, third-best in the 200 IM and was a member of Truman's 400-yard medley relay team which came in second.

Truman swim teams will not be in action again until the Central State Championships on Feb. 11-14. That event will take place in the same pool as today's dual against Drury.
