Bridget Riley Picked for Hanes Her Way/Stacy Roberts Award of Excellence Scholarship
Sophomore Bridget Riley (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) has been named the recipient of the Hanes Her Way/Stacy Roberts Award of Excellence Scholarship for the 1999-2000 season, according to Truman Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering.
Established in 1992 through a gift from Hanes Her Way, the gift was given to the University in honor of Stacy Roberts, the NCAA Woman of the Year for the state of Missouri that year. Recipients of the award are female student-athletes who have excellent academic, athletic and community service records.
Riley earned all-America status for the second time this past season as a member of the Truman women's swimming team. She was the NCAA Division II national champion in the 500-yard freestyle and was a member of the first-place 800-yard freestyle relay team. Riley also earned all-America status by virtue of a third-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle, and honorable mention all-America status with a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and a 16th-place showing in the 200-yard backstroke.
Riley was also named to the Academic All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association At-Large squad, as well as the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
