Hatcher and Yemm Named Collegeswimming.com Swimmers of the Week

Truman State University swept collegeswimming.com's national swimmer of the week awards for Division II on Tuesday (Dec. 11), as a pair of Bulldog juniors captured the honors for the week of Dec. 2-8.

Sara Hatcher (Kingdom City, Mo./North Callaway) was named the Division II Women's Swimmer of the Week and Drew Yemm (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) took in the Division II men's award.

Hatcher, a school record holder and returning all-America in the 50-yard freestyle, won that event in a Division II leading 23.78 against the University of Missouri. She followed that up with a leadoff split of 23.90 on the 200 freestyle relay, which posted a Division II qualifying time of 1:37.36.

Yemm won three events in the dual with Missouri, two of which were relays with NCAA qualifying times. He anchored the 200 medley relay with a 20.50 split for a 0.02 win and a Division II qualifying time of 1:33.70. He led off the winning 200 free relay (1:23.97) with a split of 21.02 and won the 50 free in 21.42 seconds.

In all, four of the six national swimmers of the week for Dec. 2-8 hailed from Missouri. Two University of Missouri swimmers, Sarah Lo and Matt Ferrarelli, swept the Division I awards.
