Fettig Signs On to Swim for 2001 National Championship Team

Gina Fettig, from Billings, Mont., Billings West High School, has signed a national letter-of-intent to swim for the national champion Truman State University Bulldogs.

Fettig will join the Truman team beginning this fall after completing an outstanding prep career in which she was named team MVP three times.

She was a four-time all-state swimmer, and state champion in the 100-yard freestyle in 2000. Fettig was also the runner-up at state in the 200 and 500 freestyles in 2001.

She has swam for the Billings Aquatic Club for nine years, and has been a member of numerous zone and senior regional teams. Fettig has served as a female athlete representative for Montana swimming.

"Gina will be a great fit into our program, she has a lot of versatility," Truman head coach Seth Huston said.

Truman claimed the NCAA Division II crown in March, the school's first national title. Huston, who just completed his seventh season at Truman, was named the National Swim Coaches Association's NCAA Division II coach of the year for the second consecutive season. The 'Dogs were third at the national meet in 1999 and were the national runner-up in 2000.
