Swim Teams Win Bulldog Invitational & Qualify Two More Events For Nationals

The Truman men's and women's swim teams took first place at the Bulldog Invitational, their last home meet of the season, this past weekend.

Freshman Elizabeth Hug (Maryville, Ill./Collinsville) made an NCAA Division II national qualifying time in the 200-yard individual medley when she won the event in 2:10.31. The women's 200 freestyle relay team, consisting of freshmen Sara Hatcher (Kingdom City, Mo./North Callaway) and Rebecca Wagner (Orlando Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg), senior Jen Malone (Duncanville, Texas) and junior Bryna Busch (Overland Park, Kan./SM East) also qualified for nationals when they won their event in 1:38.04.

Four Truman natatorium records were also broken this weekend by Truman women. Freshman Kelli Dudley (Topeka, Kan./West) broke the 400 individual medley record (4:38.79). The national qualifying 200 freestyle relay team broke a school record as well as the 200 medley relay (1:52.10), consisting of Hug, Dudley, Hatcher and senior Jill Myers (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.28), made up of junior Jess Martin (Buckingham, Iowa/Cedar Falls), Andrea Newton (Clive, Iowa), Busch and Malone also set a record.
