Weekend Truman Men's Tennis Results

The Truman men's tennis team began its spring schedule Friday and Saturday at the Principia College Invitational in Elsah, Ill.

Sophomore Ben Askew (Sikeston, Mo.) was undefeated at No. 7 singles, beating Jimmy Takeuchi of Washington University, Garett Henderson of Principia and Matt Herod of Jefferson College.

At No. 1 singles, junior Nathan Artz (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City) was 1-2, winning his only match versus Arun Nanjappa of Washington University.

No. 2 Erich Podzinski (Evergreen, Co.), No. 4 Adam Rees (Shelbyville, Ind.), No. 5 Tim Freiberg (Machesney Park, Ill/Rockford Lutheran) , No. 6 Andrew Hellner (Mount Clemens, Mich.) and No. 8 David Maginness (Blue Springs, Mo.) were also 1-2 for the invitational. No. 3 George Kidera (St. Louis/Chaminade) was 0-3.

In doubles action, the No. 2 squad of Kidera and Freiberg and the No. 4 team of Rees and Maginness were 2-0. The No. 1 doubles team of Artz and Podzinski and the No. 3 contingent of Hellner and Askew were 1-2.

The Bulldogs came out of fall action undefeated at 4-0 in dual competition.
