Truman Women's Tennis Team Completes 2000-01 Season
The Truman women's tennis team finished the regular season with an overall dual record of 12-8 and with a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Assocation record of 3-3.
The Bulldogs narrowly missed making the NCAA tournament for the first time in seven years, but were chosen as an alternate. The women finished their season by placing second at the MIAA tournament.
Senior Olesya Paramonova received the conference Sportsmanship Award, which is voted on by players and coaches, and completed her career with a fourth-place finish at No. 1 singles at the MIAA tournament. She was 22-10 this season, with a 19-11 record in doubles play. For her career at Truman, Paramonova finished with an overall record of 73-36, and was 72-30 in doubles play over the last four years. She was named to the MIAA commissioner's academic honor roll twice, including this season.
At the No. 2 singles slot, sophomore Allison Schuller (West Peoria, Ill./Manual) went 15-15 for the year and was 15-14 in doubles action. She placed fourth at No. 2 singles in the MIAA tournament. Schuller is now 43-22 in singles play for her career and has a two-year doubles mark of 32-28. She was also named to the MIAA commissioner's honor roll recently.
Sophomore Adri Atwell (Columbus, Ind./North) earned all-MIAA status for the second season with a third-place finish at No. 3 singles at the MIAA meet. She was 18-13 in singles play this past campaign and went 24-3 at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Meghan Konrad (Elmhurst, Ill./York), the best doubles record on team this season. Atwell and Konrad were both named to the MIAA commissioner's academic honor roll this month.
Konrad also posted the best singles record on the squad this season, going 26-8 for the year. She earned all-conference status again with a third-place finish at the MIAA tourney. Konrad's career record now stands at 50-14 in singles and 47-10 in doubles.
Junior Jessica McKinney (Belleville, Ill./West) was one of two conference champions for the 'Dogs, winning the No. 5 singles flight. She had the second-most wins on the team for the season with a 24-5 record, and was 19-11 in No. 2 doubles play. It was the third year in a row that McKinney earned all-conference honors. She finished the season with a career singles record of 48-11 and is 40-19 all-time in doubles action. McKinney was also named to the MIAA commissioner's academic honor roll this year for the second time.
Senior Lindsey Daniels (Marion, Iowa/Richwoods-Peoria, Ill.) is a three-time MIAA champion after winning the No. 6 spot again this year. She completed the season with a 21-7 record and went 14-14 with Schuller at No. 1 doubles. For her career, Daniels tallied a record of 50-11 in singles play and 64-33 in doubles.
Sophomore Amanda Black (Oakville, Mo.) was also named to the MIAA commissioner's
academic honor roll this year, and was 5-1 in singles play for the year.
