Truman Men's And Women's Tennis Teams Head To St. Joseph For Fall Season Opener

OPPONENTS: Washburn University, Central Missouri State University, Emporia State, University of Missouri- Rolla, Missouri Southern State College, Missouri Southern State University, Missouri Western State College, Northwest Missouri State University, Pittsburg State University, Southwest Baptist University
FORMAT: Each school will have three men's and three women's singles teams competing, one men's and one women's doubles team, and one mixed doubles team.
TRUMAN: With the exception of a few new freshman additions, the Truman tennis team is returning with the same roster as last season. Men's singles this weekend will be headed up by sophomore Justin Menolascino (Manchester, Mo./Chaminade), senior Nathan Artz (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City), and freshman Ben Smith (Ft. Collins, Colo.). Sophomore Adam Rees (Shelbyville, Ind.) and junior Andrew Hellner (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) will make up the Men's doubles team.
On the Women's roster, senior Olesya Paramonova (Almaty, Kazakhastan), sophomore Allison Schuller (Peoria, Ill./Manual) and sophomore Adri Atwell (Columbus, Ind./North) will take on singles, while sophomore Meghan Konrad (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and junior Jessica Mckinney (Belleville, Ill./West) make up the doubles team.
Sophomore David Maginness (Blue Springs, Mo.) and Lindsey Daniels (Marion, Iowa/Richwoods-Peoria, Ill.) will be partners in mixed doubles. Senior Allen Atkins (Hannibal, Mo.) and junior Erich Podzinski (Evergreen, Colo.) are studying in France this semester but will return to the team for the spring semester.
The newest additions to the tennis teams are freshmen Chris Larson (Arlington Heights, Ill), Smith, Jessica Adams (Nevada, Mo) and Kristen Wyble (St. Joseph, Mo.). Sophomore Amanda Black (Oakville, Mo.) also returns for her second season on the team.
TRUMAN'S LAST CONTEST: Both the Truman men's and women's tennis teams went to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II regional tournament last spring with the women's team falling to No. 3 seed Northern Kentucky and the men's team succumbing to No. 1 seeded Drury. The women's team finished with a 18-3 overall record while the men's team posted a 13-9 overall mark.
