Truman Men Finish Second in MIAA

The Truman men's tennis team finished the regular season this past weekend, finishing second at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament. Northwest Missouri State University won the tournament, while Southwest Baptist followed Truman. Washburn, Missouri-Rolla, and Emporia State finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Junior Erich Podzinski was the top finisher for Truman, winning the conference championship at the No. 3 singles spot. Seniors Nathan Artz and Allan Atkins, and freshman Ben Smith all placed second in the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 spots, respectively. Sophomores Justin Menolascino and George Kidera both placed third in the No. 1 and No. 5 slots, respectively.

The doubles teams of Menolascino paired with Podzinski and Atkins paired with Kidera both place third in conference.

Nathan Artz received the MIAA Sportsmanship Award, which is voted on by players and coaches. Artz, Atkins, Podzinski, Menolascino, Kidera, and Smith were named all-MIAA after posting top three finishes in their flight.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an overall dual record of 10-8 and an MIAA record of 3-1. Complete results for the tournament are listed below.
