Truman Women Tie For Third In MIAA

The Truman women's tennis team finished the regular season this past weekend, tying for third at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament. Washburn won the tournament, while Missouri Southern finished second and Northwest Missouri tied for third, along with Truman. Emporia State and Missouri Western and Southwest Baptist all tied for fifth-place.

Junior Lindsey Daniels (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) was the top finisher for Truman, winning the conference championship at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Jessica McKinney (Belleville, Ill./West) placed second at No. 5 singles, while freshmen Allison Schuller (West Peoria, Ill/Manual), Adri Atwell (Columbus, Ind./North) and Meghan Konrad (Elmhurst, Ill/York) were all third at the No.2-4 singles spots, respectively. Junior Oleysa Paramonova (Almaty Kazakhastan) finished fourth at No. 1 singles.

The No. 2 doubles contingent of Paramonova and McKinney placed second, and the No. 1 doubles squad of Schuller and Daniels and No. 3 doubles team of Konrad and sophomore Lisa Graham (Portage la Prairie, Manitoba/Arthur Meighen) placed third.

The Bulldogs were ranked seventh in the last ITA Midwest Regional rankings and completed the regular season with an 18-2 dual record and a perfect 5-0 mark against conference opponents this season.

The women will now wait to hear if they will earn a berth to their seventh straight NCAA regional tournament appearance.
