Women's Tennis Falls To Northern Kentucky
In Midwest Regional;
Season Ends at 18-3
The Truman women's tennis team saw their season come to an end this afternoon as No. 3 seed Northern Kentucky rallied to defeat the second-seeded Bulldogs 5-2 at the NCAA Division II Women's Midwest Regional semifinal in Edmond, Okla.
To open the semifinal match, Truman's No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Jessica McKinney (Belleville, Ill./West) and junior Olesya Paramonova (Almaty, Kazakhastan) defeated Northern Kentucky's squad of Christina Dausch and Lauren Spears, 8-3. The Bulldogs' No. 3 doubles tandem of sophomore Lisa Graham (Portage la Prairie, Manitoba/Arthur Meighen) and freshman Meghan Konrad (Elmhurst, Ill./York) were also winners with a 9-7 defeat of NKU's Amity Chapman and Joceline McQueen.
Those two wins gav the 'Dogs a 2-1 lead heading in to singles play, but the Norse captured four straight-set victories in singles to end the match with two other matches in progress.
It was just the third loss of the season for the Bulldogs, who end with a final record of 18-3 overall.
