Bulldogs Indoor Track Competes At The Hawkeye Open Last Weekend
The Bulldog indoor track teams competed at the Hawkeye Open last Saturday and returning all-Americans from both teams paced the way.
On the women's side, Christina Winkler (High Ridge, Mo./Northwest) led the way, earning a pair of runner-up finishes in the 60m hurdles and 400m, both times finishing behind runners from the host Division I school.
Other top finishers included Candi Jones (Oskaloosa, Iowa/Oskaloosa) who was third in the 400m, Candice Hoskins (Grandview, Mo./Grandview) who was third in the 800m and Lainie Bohnsack (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Central) who tied for third in the high jump.
For the Truman men, James Walton (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) had the best overall finish, earning runner-up honors in the long jump, the event in which he was national runner-up in during the 2002 indoor season.
Also on the men's side, Dan Zwilling (St. Louis/St. Mary's) finished fourth in the 800m and Alan Heincker (Dittmer, Mo./Grandview) had a pair of top-five finishes in the one and two-mile runs.
This upcoming week, the men's team will be in action at the Nebraska Invitational while the women's squad is at the Central Missouri Invitational.
