Men's Track Runs At the Nebraska Holiday Inn Invitational
Truman men's track and field teams competed last Friday and Saturday against a large field at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
Senior Alan Heincker (Dittmer, Mo./Grandview) was the top Truman runner at the meet, earning the team's first NCAA provisional mark of the season. Heincker ran the 5,000m race in a time of 14:34.69, easily surpassing the provisional standard for the event. He was runner-up in the race, finishing ahead of several runners from Division I Nebraska and MIAA rivals Emporia State and Northwest Missouri.
The Bulldogs also got a pair of top five finishes in the field events. Sophomore James Walton (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) tied for fifth in the long jump competition with a mark of 22-5.75. Sophomore Richard Mayson (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 43-9.75.
Truman will be in action against this Friday and Saturday at the Iowa State Open in Ames.
